Missing required identifier (GTIN or MPN)

What this means

Meta needs at least one product identifier — a GTIN, MPN, or both — to verify your product. Without one, the listing is blocked from Facebook and Instagram Shops.

Why this happens

Your feed didn't supply gtin or mpn. Meta is more permissive than Google here (either is acceptable), but at least one must be present and valid.

How to fix it

  1. Add a GTIN if the product has a manufactured barcode. UPC, EAN, ISBN all qualify.
  2. If no GTIN exists, add an MPN — the manufacturer's part number — plus a brand. Meta accepts MPN+brand as a valid identifier pair.
  3. For private-label or handmade goods with neither, Meta is stricter than Google: you'll need to add the brand attribute and may need to verify your domain to keep the products eligible.
  4. Resubmit the catalog and wait 4–24 hours for Meta to revalidate.
