Intrusive popup on landing page

What this means

Google detected a full-page popup, modal, or interstitial covering the product page when shoppers land. Google penalizes this — it hurts user experience.

Why this happens

Email-capture modals, age-gate prompts, exit-intent popups, cookie walls, or 'spin-the-wheel' widgets that load over the product content immediately on arrival.

How to fix it

  1. Disable popups for traffic from Google Shopping (you can detect via referrer or campaign parameter).
  2. Replace full-page modals with banner-style notifications.
  3. Make sure cookie consent doesn't block product content — use small bottom banners, not center modals.
  4. Don't show popups in the first 5 seconds of page load.
