critical missing required attribute: brand

Missing required attribute: brand

What this means

Google requires a brand on every product unless the item is in a category Google explicitly exempts (films, books, custom items). Without a brand the product is disapproved.

Why this happens

The brand attribute is empty, contains a generic placeholder ('Generic', 'No Brand', 'Unbranded'), or your store carries the manufacturer's name only on the description page rather than a structured field.

How to fix it

  1. Populate the brand attribute with the manufacturer's brand name — not your store's name.
  2. For private-label products, use your private-label brand name (you own it; that's a real brand).
  3. Don't use 'Generic', 'No Brand', 'N/A' — Google rejects these as placeholders.
  4. Resubmit and wait 24–72 hours for re-approval.
