Error 8011 — Browse node ID is invalid or wrong for your category

What this means

The recommended_browse_nodes value you submitted doesn't exist in Amazon's classification tree, has been deprecated, or doesn't match your product type.

Why this happens

Browse nodes are Amazon's category IDs. Each marketplace has its own tree, and IDs are periodically reorganized. Using an outdated ID or one from a different marketplace triggers 8011.

How to fix it

  1. Look up valid browse nodes for your product at Seller Central → Help → Browse Tree Guide (BTG) — it's a downloadable XLS for each marketplace.
  2. Match the most specific node (deepest leaf) for your product, not the parent category.
  3. Don't reuse browse nodes across marketplaces — each (US, UK, DE, etc.) has different IDs.
  4. Resubmit; processing reports update within 1–4 hours.
