Error 5665 — Brand not authorized to list

What this means

Amazon blocks the listing because you're not authorized to sell under this brand. Many brands are gated on Amazon — only approved sellers can list them.

Why this happens

Either (1) you're a reseller without Brand Registry approval, or (2) the brand has restricted distribution and Amazon hasn't accepted you as a seller. Some brands gate themselves automatically; others require an invoice trail.

How to fix it

  1. Follow the link in the 5665 error message to the selling application for catalog authorization (or apply for ungating in Seller Central). Include real photos of the product and its packaging showing the brand name, and wholesale invoices from an authorized distributor where Amazon asks for them.
  2. If you own the brand, enroll in Amazon Brand Registry; you will need a registered or pending trademark.
  3. If the brand is already approved and you still get 5665, check that the brand value in your feed matches the registered brand name exactly, including spacing and capitalization.
  4. If you cannot get authorized, exclude the brand from your Amazon feed. Listing without authorization leads to account-level penalties.
  5. If you are a legitimate reseller, ask the brand owner to authorize you through Brand Registry.
