Error 5561 — Brand requires verification documentation

What this means

Amazon requires you to upload trademark documentation, distributor authorization, or other proof before you can list under this brand. The listing is paused until documents are reviewed.

Why this happens

Some brands require ongoing verification — particularly those frequently counterfeited. Amazon's algorithms also trigger this on new sellers attempting to list well-known brands.

How to fix it

  1. In Seller Central, go to Account Health → Brand Verification (or the inventory issue notification).
  2. Upload requested documents: trademark certificate, letter of authorization from the brand owner, or wholesale invoices (within 180 days).
  3. Documents must be PDF, in English (or translated), and show your business name as the buyer/authorized party.
  4. Verification typically takes 2–7 business days. The listing remains paused during review.
