Error 13040 — Image dimensions don't meet category-specific requirements

What this means

Some Amazon categories (especially apparel, jewelry, and books) have stricter image requirements than the global minimum. The image you uploaded meets the global standard but not the category-specific one.

Why this happens

Apparel typically requires 1000+ pixels on the long side; jewelry typically requires square format with the product centered. Submitting a smaller or differently-shaped image for those categories triggers 13040.

How to fix it

  1. Look up your category's image requirements in Amazon Style Guides at sellercentral.amazon.com → Inventory → Add a Product → Style Guide.
  2. Apparel: at least 1000×1000, square or vertical (4:5) preferred.
  3. Jewelry: square 1500×1500 minimum, product centered with neutral background.
  4. Books: cover-only, no spine/back. 800px+ on the long side, exact aspect ratio matching the physical book.
  5. Re-upload images at the corrected dimensions.
