Error 13037 — Image must be color, not black and white

What this means

For categories where color matters (apparel, beauty, home goods, etc.), Amazon requires color images. A black-and-white or sepia main image triggers this code.

Why this happens

Buyers can't accurately judge color, finish, or material from B&W images. Amazon mandates color for visual-purchase categories.

How to fix it

  1. Re-upload a full-color version of the main image.
  2. If your product is intentionally monochrome (e.g., a black-and-white printed art piece), the IMAGE itself can show the actual product colors — meaning it can be 'visually' B&W if the product is genuinely B&W, but the image file must be saved in RGB color mode, not grayscale.
  3. Confirm the file is sRGB — submit grayscale-mode images and Amazon will flag them even if they look identical to the eye.
