Error 13006 — Main image must have a pure white background

What this means

Amazon requires the MAIN image (image position 1) for most categories to have a pure white background — RGB (255, 255, 255). Lifestyle, gradient, or off-white backgrounds are not accepted as the main image.

Why this happens

Amazon enforces uniform main-image styling so search-result thumbnails look consistent. Even images that look 'white' to the human eye fail if any pixel is RGB (250, 250, 250) or has shadows/reflections from the product staging.

How to fix it

  1. Re-shoot or re-edit the main image on a true white (#FFFFFF) backdrop. Studio softboxes + a white sweep typically yield this naturally.
  2. Use Photoshop's 'Levels' or 'Curves' to push the background to pure white — or remove.bg + a white fill layer for a quick fix.
  3. Lifestyle and in-context images are still allowed in positions 2–9. Reserve those for context, position 1 for the white-background hero.
  4. Re-upload the image; Amazon usually re-validates in 1–4 hours.
