It's still summer-hot outside, but for many kids in the U.S. the first day of school is just around the corner. While back-to-school shopping is already in full swing, it’s not too late to get in on all the action.

This year, social media is playing a larger role in how parents and kids are planning for the big day. About 25% of parents say they’ll be perusing Pinterest for snack ideas for their kids. And 27% say they’ll be planning their whole shopping list there.

But it's not always so simple. Back-to-school shopping habits can be complicated.
